General
- How do I get a quote?
- Call (403) 333-3210, email info@somersetlawnandsnow.com, or fill out the contact form on our website. We will send you a written quote the same day.
- Do I need to be home?
- No. As long as we have access to the areas being serviced and any required gates are unlocked, you don't need to be home.
- Do you supply your own equipment?
- Yes. We bring all necessary equipment, tools, and supplies for every service. For landscaping projects, materials such as pavers, plants, sod, and aggregate are quoted separately.
- Are you licensed and insured?
- Yes. We are a registered Calgary business carrying full commercial general liability insurance and WCB coverage. We are happy to provide proof of insurance upon request.
Lawn Maintenance
- How much does lawn maintenance cost?
- Pricing depends on your lawn size, service frequency, and the services included. Mowing starts at $40 per visit for a 1,500 sq. ft. lawn and $100 per visit for a 4,000 sq. ft. lawn. Monthly lawn maintenance packages start at $145/month. For a more accurate price based on your property, contact us for a free quote.
- What happens if it rains?
- Light rain does not stop us. If the lawn is too wet to mow without causing damage, we reschedule for the next available day and notify you by text or email. We never mow saturated lawns — it causes soil compaction and leaves ruts.
- What if my grass is too short to mow?
- If the grass does not require cutting, our crew may skip the visit rather than unnecessarily cutting the lawn.
Snow Removal
- How much does snow removal cost?
- Snow removal pricing depends on the areas being cleared. Current starting price is $90 + GST for a sidewalk and walkway to the door, and $145 + GST for a 2-car driveway. See our pricing page for the full list of options.
- When do you clear snow?
- We begin snow removal when snow accumulation covers the pavement enough that it is no longer visible. If the trigger is hit by 6 a.m., we aim to start within 2 hours. If by 11 a.m., we start as soon as possible. After 11 a.m., we generally clear it the following morning.
- What happens if it keeps snowing?
- During continuous snowfall, we focus on keeping our routes moving efficiently. Seasonal customers are serviced at least once every 24 hours when required.
- Do you provide one-time snow removal?
- One-time snow removal is available after our seasonal customers have been serviced. Minimum $50 + GST. Please note: packed or compacted snow is not considered the same as fresh snow and may require additional work and charges.
Scheduling & Contracts
- When does lawn maintenance season run?
- Our standard lawn maintenance season runs from April 15 to October 15.
- When does snow removal season run?
- Our standard seasonal snow removal agreement runs from October 15 to April 15.
- Can I cancel?
- Yes. For month-to-month plans, you can cancel with 14 days' notice. Seasonal contracts have a cancellation policy outlined in your service agreement.
- What if I am not satisfied with a service?
- Tell us. We stand behind our work and will address any concerns promptly. If a specific service was not performed to your satisfaction, we will redo it at no charge.
- Will the same crew service my property?
- We aim to keep crews consistent within established routes whenever possible. This helps our crews become familiar with your property and provide more consistent service.
Payments
- What payment methods do you accept?
- We accept e-transfers, post-dated cheques, and debit/credit card payments. E-transfer is our most popular option — fast, secure, and no processing fees. For seasonal contracts, post-dated cheques are a convenient option that lets you set up automatic payments and forget about it.
- Do I have to pay upfront?
- No. We offer monthly payment options for all of our recurring services — lawn mowing, snow removal, and lawn care programs. You can pay month by month with no penalty.
- Do you charge GST?
- All prices are quoted before applicable GST. GST is added to invoices as required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Is a deposit required?
- For one-time services such as landscaping projects, tree trimming, or cleanups, we may require a deposit (typically 25–50%) before starting work. Smaller one-time services like eavestrough cleaning are invoiced after the work is done with payment due within 14 days.
Service Area
- What areas do you serve?
- We primarily serve Calgary's southwest quadrant: Somerset, Bridlewood, Evergreen, Shawnessy, Sundance, Chaparral, Midnapore, Silverado, Woodbine, Braeside, and surrounding communities.
- Do you serve Airdrie or Cochrane?
- Not at this time. We focus on Calgary's southwest communities to keep our routes efficient and our response times fast.
- Do you service commercial properties?
- Yes. We provide snow removal, lawn maintenance, and yard work for commercial properties, strata complexes, and multi-unit residential developments within our service area. Contact us for a commercial quote.
